Yesterday evening, DC announced that they will hold a 24 hour long virtual event in August named the FanDome. The goal of the event is to celebrate all things DC including comics, movies, and of course, games.
The FanDome will take place on August 22nd and feature a wealth of content for fans to tune-into and even be a part of. Jim Lee, Chief Creative Officer for DC, wrote a blog post to inform fans of what they can expect.
“DC is bringing the whole world together—under one huge virtual dome —for 24 hours to celebrate you, the fan! Whether you like to read the comics, watch the movies, play the games or binge the TV series – the DC Fandome will have something just for you. And I don’t mean things you have seen before. We’re working across all of DC and WB to create experiences and adventures within a first of its kind, online immersive world that will not only make headlines around the world but bring joy and hopefully leave a lasting impact on those of you who join us.”
Of course, as a gaming outlet we’re interested in hearing more about upcoming DC games including the long-rumored Batman title. Hopefully we will learn more soon. For now, you can find further details on the FanDome and how to participate via the official site here.
Our Take
This is exciting and it’s nice to see companies getting creative with how they interact with fans in this new world that we’re all currently living in. Should this be a resounding success, we could certainly see other organizations following suit for their fanbases.
