What a day for Witcher fans! The long-awaited Netflix series has debuted and in what may be even more exciting news for gamers, CD Projekt Red announced they have come to an agreement with Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski to continue developing titles on the sources material.
Also notable is that the agreement grants CD Projekt Red further rights to the intellectual property including video games, graphic novels, board games, and merchandise. Adam Kicinski, President and Joint CEO of CDPR, had the following to say.
“We’ve always admired Mr. Andrzej Sapkowski’s works — a great inspiration for the team here at CD PROJEKT RED,” says Adam Kiciński, President and Joint CEO, CD PROJEKT. “I believe today marks a new stage in our continued relationship,” Kiciński concludes.
Our Take
This is simply fantastic news as there has been some contention in the past between Sapkowski and CDPR. Given our love of The Witcher series, particularly after naming The Witcher 3 our Game of the Decade, we’re very excited to see where CDPR takes the series next.
