Original article: Rumors are swirling that the next Assassin’s Creed title may not as far off as imagined. Rather, the next entry in the series, titled Odyssey, will be coming later this year. According to the leak it is a sequel to Origins and will be based in Greece.
As always with rumors here at SG, we take them with a grain of salt but with multiple sites reporting these findings, they are likely credible. Now it will be interesting to see if Ubisoft responds or merely waits for E3 in 11 days.
Our Take
It makes sense that AC would head to Greece next with the direction of Origins though we have to admit we were more hoping for something like ancient China. Regardless, the news that it could be coming this year is surprising especially given the incredibly warm reception to Origins after taking a year off. Even if different teams are developing, it seems like a mistake to saturate the franchise again especially in a year that already has a new Tomb Raider, Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Red Dead Redemption 2 (among others).
