Xbox One X Demonstrating Power Claims on Multi-Platform Titles

The folks over at Digital Foundry, widely considered the experts in detailed performance breakdowns, have been very busy over the past few years due to the popularity of comparison videos in today’s industry. Continued hardware iterations have led to large disparities in how specific games perform on various platforms, thus leading players to research the best place to play their favorite games.

As we’ve covered at length, Microsoft made some bold claims with the Xbox One X but for all intents and purposes, the console has backed those claims up. This chart, put together by user SpartanBlem on Twitter using Digital Foundry data, demonstrates the substantial difference between multi-platform games running on the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.

Our Take

This really shouldn’t come as a large surprise. As we’ve discussed at length, the Xbox One X released a year later at a higher price so it should be expected that more advanced hardware will produce a better result. That said, while we expected a difference here at SG, we didn’t believe it would be this substantial across nearly all 3rd party titles. It will be interesting to see how much further games can be optimized as the hardware and SDKs mature through 2018 and beyond.
