PlayStation’s PS VR2 Launches in February

PlayStation announced this morning that their upcoming PS VR2 headset will launch on February 22nd. It will retail for $549.99 and a bundle will be available with Horizon: Call of the Mountain for $599.99.

PlayStation made the announcement this morning via the PlayStation Blog which seems a little odd for such a high-profile piece of hardware. Regardless, launch will begin through PlayStation Direct only with pre-orders beginning on November 15th.

During this initial launch phase for our next-gen headset, players in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg will initially be able to pre-order PlayStation VR2 solely through PlayStation’s online store at direct.playstation.com. Pre-orders will begin on November 15, and players may begin to register for pre-orders starting today. Orders from direct.playstation.com for PlayStation VR2 headsets and bundles will ship throughout the week of launch.

In other markets, PlayStation VR2 will be sold at participating retailers, with pre-orders beginning on November 15. Information will be provided through participating local retailers in these regions.

According to PlayStation, additional titles will be available for pre-order beginning later this month as well. Additionally, a PS VR2 “Sense” charging unit will be sold separately for $49.99.

We’ll have more on PS VR2 in the near future including a discussion on its launch price and sell-through potential on this week’s Bitcast. Stay tuned!
