Courtesy of The Verge, we have our first look at Xbox’s browser-based Cloud Streaming service (xCloud) which will allow players to access their Xbox games on PCs and Apple devices.
Internal testing has reportedly begun and will soon open to public preview for Xbox Insiders. Here are the first screens of the new browser.
If you missed prior reports, xCloud currently runs on Xbox One S hardware, but is being upgraded to Series X hardware (though we don’t have any “official” timeline). So at this point in time, we can’t say definitively what resolution/framerate the streaming will support via the browser. However, we’ll be sure to update when we learn more.
Our Take
This is the next step for xCloud and we’re extremely excited about it. The prospect of logging into the Xbox ecosystem and playing your games via any PC globally is amazing and we can’t wait to experience it!
