Xbox is keeping the announcements rolling this morning.
The latest is that EA Play, the service formally known as EA Access, is joining Xbox Game Pass this holiday at no extra cost to subscribers. For those unfamiliar, EA Play provides players with the following:
- Early access to titles for up to 10 hours, typically a few days before official release.
- 10% off of all EA titles that you buy digitally.
- A large number of fully playable EA titles via the services “vault”. Typically titles are added to the vault 6-12 months after release.
Our Take
Xbox Game Pass was already the best value in gaming today. Bar none. While EA Play as a stand-alone service is nothing to write home about, offering those bonuses to existing Game Pass subscribers is a great idea and simply ups the value of Game Pass even more. We like it!
What happens to my existing EA subscription when it merges with Game Pass? I’m currently paid up until August 2021 and already subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate.
You will be credited some months on your Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
