Sony Clarifies that Spider-Man Miles Morales is an Expansion, not a Full Sequel

Update: Insomniac Games has clarified that Spider-Man : Miles Morales is a stand-alone game though similar in vein to Uncharted : Lost Legacy.

During the PlayStation 5 showcase yesterday, the initial game shown running on the PS5 was Spider-Man : Miles Morales. With Spider-Man being such a big game and only having released two years ago, it brought questions as to the level of content this game would bring.

Sony has no clarified that it is indeed merely an expansion to the existing Spider-Man game which will be enhanced for the PS5; it is not a full sequel.

Sony’s Vice President and Head of European Business, Simon Rutter, commented: “I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game. There’s a substantial Miles Morales component, which is the expansion element, but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features.

Our Take

As Spider-Man was the most successful exclusive on the PlayStation 4, it’s not really a surprise that Sony is looking to capitalize on that success while trying to fill gaps in the launch lineup of the PlayStation 5. We’re still excited to play it and hope it offers a substantial amount of content.
