Assassin’s Creed Ragnorok Special Editions and Mission Details Leak

We’ve been talking about Assassin’s Creed Ragnorok for some time now as it’s one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry. We fully expect the title to release next Fall for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One as well as alongside the Xbox Series X and PS5.

Yesterday evening, some retail sites happen to leak the names of the special editions that will be released which include the “Valhalla” and “Mjolnir” versions.

What may be more interesting however, is that some developers are already talking about some details of the title and what they enjoy most about it. Here are some of the details:

“Assassin’s Creed: Ragnarok’s map will cover Great Britain, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. The regions are broken into several districts, each one with its own economy system and customization for the inhabitants.”

One developer claimed: “Thus far Ireland and Norway are his favorite regions to explore. The quests there are interesting. One in Ireland has you searching for missing children down a well and it evolves into a Celtic folklore mystery quest. Another has the protagonist climbing a mountain in Norway and he sees apparitions of Odin.”

Another developed claimed: “Darby is one of the main writers and has a love of Irish history so he squeezed many notable Viking age folks from the Irish theater of Norse campaigns in. Of note, the Irish High King Brian Boru plays a major role and despite his dislike of the Norse he becomes fond of the protagonist, serving a father like role. The team love him and call him ”Brian Bro-ruma”.”

Our Take

Given the recent titles in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, we’re hugely excited for Ragnorok. With Origins and Odyssey being so well done, the combination of Viking Lore and the new consoles could make for a truly amazing experience. We’re particularly interested in the leaked mission details as they sound very similar to some of the types of missions we saw in Witcher 3 (which is our game of the decade). We’ll report back as we learn more!
