One of the largest stories over the past two weeks has been the downfall of Telltale Games. Last week when we first reported that the majority of the staff had been laid off and the rest of the projects were cancelled, including The Walking Dead, there were rumors that Skybound was searching for a way to complete the title.
Well some seemingly good news in that Skybound has announced an agreement has been reached to finish development of the finale.
We’re SO happy to announce that we’ve reached a deal with @telltalegames that will allow Skybound to continue #TheWalkingDead: The Final Season! Let’s wrap up Clem’s story right! More details to come soon. pic.twitter.com/ShyREw65iq

At this time, we’re unsure who will be developing or if any of the prior Telltale developers are involved. We’ll keep you up to date as this develops!
Our Take
While this is good news on the surface, we’d be pretty upset if the rest of the series was merely handed off to a small group of new developers simply to “finish” it. We hope that’s not the case but we’ll soon know for sure.
