Shadow of War receives an extensive expansion today titled Desolation of Mordor. From Warner Brothers, it is described as follows:
Play as Baranor, Captain of Mins Ithil, and journey far to the Eastern desert of Lithlad in the all-new Desolation of Mordor Story DLC for Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Employ an army of ruthless human mercenaries – along with their new combat and stealth abilities – to conquer the imposing Marauder fortress of Shindrâm. In Lithlad, deadly were-wyrms prowl beneath the sands while lost Númenórean artifacts wait to be found and wielded in battle once again. But take heed, for Baranor is mortal…and death will have its consequences.
Our Take
While Shadow of War was criticized at launch for microtransactions, we felt the criticisms were mostly unfounded and overall it was a very solid game. The Desolation of Mordor looks interesting to say the least and while it looks to expand upon the gameplay of Shadow of War, we’re not quite sure how that fits into Middle Earth lore.
