We’ve been hearing for weeks from industry sources that this year’s Call of Duty will in fact be Black Ops 4. Up until now however, we hadn’t seen any physical evidence.
That has now changed as an employee from Gamestop has leaked images of their internal system showing merchandise for the title. You can find the image below as originally reported by Charlie Intel here.
Our Take
As we’ve discussed in our Bitcast, it was already extremely likely that 2018’s Call of Duty would be Black Ops 4. Black Ops is the most powerful name associated with Call of Duty in today’s market and with it being Treyarch’s year to deliver, it simply made sense. We personally weren’t the biggest fans of Black Ops 3 so we’ll see what Treyarch brings to the table with a new entry especially after the hugely successful World War 2.
