Fable Fortune, the CCG created by ex-members of the Fable development team at Mediatonic and Flaming Fowl, announced today that the official release of the game will be this Thursday, February 22nd. It will launch as a free to play title in version 1.0 which will include many additions and bug fixes identified in early access.

To celebrate and reward the early access players, unique “fancy” versions of specific cards will be available the next 3 days leading up to the official release. The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday 19th February 14:00 GMT – Tuesday 20th February 14:00 GMT: Fancy Crazy Cat Lady
  • Tuesday 20th February 00:00-23:59 GMT: Fancy Restless Spirit
  • Wednesday 21st February 00:00-23:59 GMT: Fancy Bloody Augur and a Fancy Card Pack.

Our Take

We love that members of the Fable development team set out to make their own collectible card game using the Fable IP and that Microsoft allowed them to do it. However, with the CCG genre being so competitive now, especially as Elder Scrolls Legends and Gwent are cementing their places, we worry that this one may get overlooked. We hope it offers unique gameplay and challenges to attract a dedicated fanbase. If rumors are true and Microsoft is reviving the Fable IP, it would certainly be interesting if Fable Fortune eventually tied into the rebooted main game.
