Switch owners finally have the news they’ve been waiting on for months ; a timeline as to when they can expect Switch Online services.
The service will launch in September with the option of paying $3.99 a month, $7.99 for 3 months, or $19.99 a year. It will include an app for your phone that you can use to chat with your friends along with a collection of classic Nintendo titles that will rotate in and out monthly.
Nintendo’s website has been updated to reflect the formal announcement: Nintendo Switch Online Details
Our Take
It’s nice to finally have an official date from Nintendo for the service as we’ve been waiting for the date as to when we’ll be able to play with friends. However, we’re a little confused by the offering. In late 2017, Nintendo announced a further delay as they wanted to re-work what the online offering was going to be. However, the pricing and the classic game rotation seems to be the exact same thing that was discussed in mid-2017 after the Switch’s launch. Hopefully, they have more up their sleeve that we’ll learn about later this year.
