Humble Bundle Inc, the company responsible for the Humble Store (digital games) and the charity game bundles, has been acquired by IGN. While not a non-profit organization in any sense, Humble Bundle did become well known across the industry for their charitable bundles so it will be interesting to see how those are handled or changed under IGN. It is also unclear as to whether IGN will publish games in some form as Humble Bundle had recently begun that venture with A Hat in Time.
It’s too early to fully comment on this acquisition but it is certainly interesting. We’re not quite sure why Humble Bundle decided to sell at this point in time but we’re sure more details will surface over the next few weeks. We’ll be discussing this more in the near future and will update you as we learn more.
