CDPR Announces a New Expansion for The Witcher 3 : Songs of the Past

Rumors have been howling and now it’s official: We are getting a new expansion to The Witcher 3 twelve years after its release. CD Projekt Red officially announced the expansion this morning. Titled Songs of the Past, the expansion is being developed in conjunction with Fool’s Theory, a studio of veterans who have previously worked on The Witcher 3 with CDPR.

Details are scarce at the moment but CDPR shared the following:

  • Songs of the Past is a third expansion coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • It will launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
  • CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3.
  • Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

More details on Songs of the Past will be released in late summer 2026 so stay tuned!
