URGENT GALACTIC REPORT : Super Earth in PERIL!

The leaders of super earth working with the enemy? Is the fate of managed democracy in peril? Would you like to know more?

As the men and women of Super Earth bravely dipense managed democracy by Helldiving into the disgusting homeworlds of our enemy, something has begun to fester back at home. For some time now, Helldivers across the galaxy have noticed that bullets that would once effortlessly pierce the undemocratic skull of the terminid scum suddenly became less and less effective. Or that sound of our ordinance turning the traitorous automotons into scrap metal suddenly didn’t sing like it used to. And, most recently, the righteous flames of freedom, which used to melt away all who opposed, now only lightly toast our enemy.

This is unacceptable.

Why is this happening? Who Is Responsible!? Would you like to know more?

Well, glorious citizens of Super Earth, after an extensive research, we have a culprit. It pains me to report that it is none other than the noble leaders of Super Earth. But why? Why would the most patriotic of us all betray us in this way? Some say it’s due to trying to get votes from the Bugbot sympathizers, who say we are too cruel to our enemies, but what good does earning 0.0000000001% of the population’s votes do anyone?

There is, of course, the economic argument. It’s true that the costs of operation Freedoms Flame is vast, and ever since the armies of Super Earth started this crusade for democracy, the Super Credits economy has taken a hit. However, who are we to put a price on as worthy a cause as spreading democracy?

Either way, Helldivers across the galaxy are outraged, to the point where they have laid down their arms and surrendered several sectors to the enemy. This has resulted in the biggest loss of territory our glorious nation has ever seen. The Automoton scum have taken most advantage of our moment of weakness and are currently closer to home then we have ever seen.

The future of Super Earth is in peril!

We have managed to find a comment on the situation from esteemed member of the heroic Helldivers, Akifumi121, who said the following message:

“I never wanted this, I never wanted to unleash my legions.

Together we banished the bug tyranny of Meridia, but you betrayed me, you betrayed us all.

You stole power from the Helldivers and lied to your citizens.

Mankind has only one chance to prosper, if you will not seize it then I will.

So let it be war, from the skies of Super Earth to the Galactic rim.

Let the seas boil, let the stars fall.

Though it takes the last drop of my blood, I will see the galaxy freed once more and if I can not save it from your failure Managed Democracy, then let the galaxy burn!”

A truly moving statement from Super Citizen Akifumi121. We now turn to our fearless leaders for their response, and a response they gave. All hail the noble Mikael E.

Statement from the CEO of Super Earth

Fellow Helldivers,

I want to directly address the feedback you’ve raised about the Escalation of Freedom update. We’ve spent the last week listening to feedback, reflecting about the path ahead for Helldivers 2 and how we want to continue developing the game. In short, we didn’t hit our target with the latest update. Some things we just didn’t get right – and other more fundamental inconsistencies in our approach to game balance and game direction.

All of that is on us and we are going to own that.  As many of you have pointed out, and we agree, what matters most now is action. Not talk.

To that end, here’s what we intend to do in the upcoming updates.

Our aim within the next 60 days:

  • Continue to re-examine our approach to balance. Our intention is that balance should be fun, not “balanced” for the sake of balance.
  • Update how the fire damage mechanic works to tweak how the flamethrower serves as a close range support weapon. (A quick straight revert won’t work, as it would break other things)
  • Rework gameplay to prevent excessive ragdolling
  • Re-think our design approach to primary weapons and create a plan for making combat more engaging
  • Re-prioritize bug fixes so that the more immediate  gameplay-impacting bugs are prioritized.
  • Improve game performance (frame rate is a focus)
  • Rework Chargers

Additionally, from a bigger picture perspective we will be:

  • Exploring creation of an opt-in beta-test environment to improve our testing processes and we consider this a high-priority.
  • Post regular player surveys to gather more insights and feedback from the community.
  • Improve our process for patch/release notes – providing more context and reasoning behind changes.
  • More blog posts and streams where we expand on these topics for those interested.

We also want to thank you for your patience. We’re grateful that so many of you provided constructive feedback and suggestions on the latest update.

Game Director & Arrowhead Game Studios

We are heard, fellow Helldivers, we are heard! Will it be enough? Will the millions of Helldivers across the galaxy be given the support they need to continue fighting in the name of Super Earth? Or will the Automoton scum lay siege to the peaceful lands we call home? Only time will tell…
