Path of Exile began as an unknown ARPG developed by a small group of developers in New Zealand. Grinding Gear Games was founded in 2006 and through beta tests and crowd-funding, the team at GGG set out to develop the next, hardcore ARPG. Officially released in 2013, for the last decade Path of Exile has grown into the ARPG Grinding Gear Games always envisioned. While it may not have the mainstream appeal of Diablo, it is certainly appreciated by the ARPG community as one of, if not the, best loot-based ARPGs available.
Path of Exile 2 was originally announced as a major expansion for POE back in 2019, however earlier this year it was announced that it would be a full release in 2024. It’s been rather quiet since then. That is, until now.
