Report : Nintendo Planning to Release New Switch in 2024

According to a report from VGC, Nintendo is planning to release the new Switch in the second-half of 2024. The report states that partner developers are now in possession of development kits and they are planning a later launch in 2024 to ensure they can produce enough units to meet demand.

Apparently this new, next-gen console can be used in portable mode, like the Switch, but has an LCD screen (instead of OLED) to keep costs down. While it will continue to support cartridges for physical copies, there hasn’t been any word on whether it will be fully backwards compatible with the Switch.

While many sites have asked Nintendo to comment, we don’t expect Nintendo to confirm any reports until they are ready to share the news themselves. But given the on-going reports from various sources, and Nintendo’s own fiscal reporting, it all seems to line up to a late-2024 release as reported.
