The next installment in the legendary franchise is nearly here. At Summer Game Fest, Ed Boon took the stage to introduce Mortal Kombat 1 which releases on September 19th. As you would expect, the trailer featured a range of classic characters combined with a gruesome display of battles and fatalities.
Mortal Kombat 1 introduces a new universe for the franchise with what is essentially a reboot. At the end of Mortal Kombat 11 Raiden creates a new timeline and that’s where MK1 will pick up.
NetherRealm CEO Ed Boon stated that you can expect new rivalries, old rivals working together, and many new aspects to what players can expect. One of those features is the new cameo system which allows players to select a secondary character who can be called upon during battles.
Surely there are many new surprises in store for fans and we’ll see more on MK1 in the coming months. For now we’ll watch the amazing trailer a few more times.
