In a studio announcement blog this morning, PlayStation’s Guerrilla announced a shift in a leadership along with hints at their next projects. After the latest critical and commercial success in Horizon Forbidden West, the studio is making a few changes.
In a leadership promotional announcement, Guerrilla’s Studio Director and Executive Producer, Angie Smetts, has been promoted to PlayStation’s Head of Development Strategy.
These past two decades at Guerrilla have been an absolute dream. I feel privileged to have worked alongside some of the smartest and coolest people in the industry. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned alongside all the other Guerrillas. We have accomplished so much as a team, and I’m incredibly proud of all the games we’ve shipped together.
A special shoutout to Jan-Bart van Beek and Michiel van der Leeuw. It feels like just yesterday that we were figuring out how to make and ship the first Killzone. Little did we know that we would eventually lead Guerrilla together. You’ve become like brothers to me, and there’s no way to thank you enough. I will miss you dearly.
This leaves Guerrilla with the following leadership in place:
- Joel Eschler (Studio Director and Production Director)
- Hella Schmidt (Studio Director and General Manager)
- Jan-Bart van Beek (Studio Director and Art Director)
Perhaps more exciting for fans, was the announcement of their next projects. According to the blog, Guerrilla is already working on “Aloy’s next adventure” alongside an “exciting online project.” Details on what exactly we can expect of each are scarce. But maybe we’ll learn more in the upcoming PlayStation Showcase in May. Stay tuned!
