Nintendo held its fall Direct today and along with it came many new reveals. The 40-minute presentation was quite heavy on RPGs, but also featured a nice helping of nostalgia. The show was book ended quite nicely beginning with the reveal of a new Fire Emblem game and ending with the title and release date reveal of the long-awaited follow-up to Breath of the Wild. As with all Nintendo Directs, the pacing was brisk and an overall good presentation.

The show opened with a new entry in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Engage. This is a new mainline entry from Intelligent Systems. Fire Emblem engage is slated to release on January 20, 2023, and in addition to the standard edition, a special Divine Edition was also revealed.
2021 Game of the Year “It Takes Two” is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 4th. It will feature the same friend pass as previous releases as well as Switch-to-Switch co-op over local networks.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse from Koei Tecmo Games is coming to the West for the first time in early 2023.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion pass wave 2, containing new hero Ino and challenge battles with exclusive rewards, is coming on October 13th.
Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake is coming to the Switch in 2023.
The biggest fake-out of the show happened with Kenshiro showing up only to reveal Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, coming in March 2023.
Tunic is releasing on the Switch on September 27th.
Full Remakes of Front Mission 1, as well as the previously unreleased outside of Japan, Front mission 2, are both coming this November. Front Mission 3 Remake was also revealed to be coming in the future.
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life from XSEED Games is coming in 2023.
Splatoon 3’s first post launch “Splatfest” is confirmed for Sept 23 – Sept 25th with more free updates coming soon.
Octopath Traveller 2 has been revealed by Square-Enix. It will feature 8 new travelers and an all-star voice cast. The game also takes place in a brand new industrial world. It’s releasing on February 24, 2023.
Phoenix Labs revealed a new farm simulation RPG, Fae Farm. It’s coming exclusively to Switch in Spring 2023.
Final Fantasy celebrates its 35th anniversary with the reveal of Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line, a rhythm game featuring 285 tracks from past Final Fantasy games. It’s releasing on February 16th, 2023.
Post launch paid-DLC plans were also revealed and will include music from the SaGa, Nier, Octopath Traveller, and Live-A-Live series. Additionally the game will feature multiple season passes bringing the track count up to a whopping 500+.
The final trailer for Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope revealed some of the game’s exploration mechanics. The game is releasing on October 20th along with a Gold Edition that will contain the game’s season pass. This game also received a gameplay deep dive at the Ubisoft Forward event last weekend
Rune Factory 3 Special from XSEED revealed to be coming in 2023 as well as confirmation of a new game in the series being in development.
New games coming to Nintendo Switch Online include Pilotwings 64, Mario Party, and Mario Party 2 later this year. Mario Party 3, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64 are coming next year. Fan favorite Goldeneye is also coming soon to the service and will feature online play!
New RPG from Square Enix, Various Daylife, was revealed and shadow dropped on the Switch.
Cult-classic management sim from Wube Software ltd, Factorio, was revealed for Nintendo Switch. It is set to launch on October 25th.
New 2D narrative adventure “Ib” from Playism was revealed. It’s launching in spring 2023.
Mario Strikers Battle league getting its second free update featuring Pauline and Diddy Kong, more gear, and a new stadium. It’s launching later this month.
New JRPG Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key announced. It’s releasing on February 24, 2023.
The third wave of expansion courses for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were revealed and coming this holiday. There are three new courses including Peach Gardens from the DS. They can be purchased separately but are also included in Nintendo Switch Expansion pass.
Nintendo Switch Sports is getting a free update to include golf. It has been slightly delayed from fall 2022 until holiday 2022.
Pikmin Bloom is coming to mobile devices. It is being developed by the teams at Niantic that created Pokemon Go and will feature similar AR gameplay.
Pikmin 4 was announced and will reportedly release in 2023.
Just Dance 2023 Edition is coming to the Switch in November.
A new Harvestella trailer was provided and included the announcement of a demo that is available today. All progress will transfer to the full game release on November 4th.
A new trailer for Bayonetta 3 was shared and provided more insight into the game’s story. The game is launching on October 28th and will be featured further with a gameplay deep dive today as well.
A new game was revealed from the creators of Danganronpa, Master Detective Archives: RainCode. The game has a heavy emphasis on mystery and detective work and seems to have much more interactive gameplay than its visual novel siblings. It is launching in spring 2023.
A cloud version of Resident Evil Village was announced for Nintendo Switch and is coming October 28th. A free demo is launching today on the eShop and the Winter’s Expansion will also be available on December 2nd. Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 are also getting cloud versions for the Switch.
Kung-fu action brawler Sifu from Sloclap is coming to the Switch on November 8th.
Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is coming to Nintendo Switch on December 13th.
Classic Shoot’em-up, Radiant Silvergun, shadow dropped on Switch today.
Endless Dungeon launches on Nintendo Switch in 2023.
Tales of Symphonia is getting a remaster and launching on the Switch in early 2023.
There was a quick showcase montage of several releases including Life is Strange Arcadia Bay Collection, Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Remastered, LEGO Bricktales, Disney Speedstorm, and Fall Guys Season 2. All are coming to the Switch this year.
As part of Kirby’s 30th anniversary, Kirby’s Return to DreamLand Deluxe has been revealed for Nintendo Switch. It launches on February 24, 2023.
The show closed with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The follow-up to Breath of the Wild receives its real title along with a brief trailer highlighting some gameplay. It seems as though players will revisit some elements from past titles such as the sky-bound isles and ground level from Breath of the Wild. Tears of the Kingdom will release on May 12, 2023.

Small correction, Ib isn’t a new game. It’s a classic RPGmaker horror game that originally released in 2012 and had a remake in 2022 for Its 10 year anniversary. It’s the remake of the game that is being adapted for the switch.
