Supermassive Games Acquired by Nordisk Games

Supermassive Games (The Quarry, Dark Pictures Anthology) have continued to gain an audience over the past few years with their interactive horror titles. Noticing their success, Danish company Nordisk Games bought a 30% stake in Supermassive in March of 2021. This morning, Nordisk announced that they are acquiring Supermassive in full.

Supermassive CEO, Pete Samuels, issued the following statement about the acquisition:

“Having had such a positive experience over the past year it wasn’t a difficult decision when Nordisk Games wanted to explore increasing their investment. We have an exciting and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive Games and Nordisk Games ownership only enhances that. I’m hugely excited about where the security offered by this partnership, and continued access to the expertise within Nordisk Games, will take us next.”

Our Take

We’ve been impressed by the growth and output of Supermassive Games. The Dark Pictures Anthology has steadily improved and The Quarry was very well received. It sounds like this is a beneficial partnership for both companies and we are certainly excited to see Supermassive continue to evolve!
