The Last of Us Remake for PS5 to Release in September

UPDATE: The cat is now out of the bag with a wide range of Last of Us updates from Summer Game Fest.  The PlayStation Blog has an provided a new overview titled “The Growing Future of The Last of Us.” Here are the details:

  • The Last of Us Remake arrives on the PS5 on September 2nd. It is also in development for PC.
  • It has been completely revamped from the ground up:
    • We’ve implemented modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options in this single-player experience to allow even more individuals to enjoy the game. Effects, exploration, and combat have all been enhanced. Leveraging the PS5’s powerful hardware, we also implemented 3D Audio*, haptics, and adaptive triggers. Both returning fans and new players alike will have the opportunity to experience both The Last of Us Part I and its prequel story Left Behind in a whole new way.
  • Three different editions are available with the Firefly Edition being a PS Direct exclusive.

 


Original Post: Another day, another leak. But this time, the upcoming release was leaked by none other than the parent company themselves.

The often discussed PS5 remake of The Last of Us is apparently nearing completion and will launch on September 2nd. According to the store listing, it is also in development for PC which at this point should be expected for all Sony first-party releases.
