War Never Changes, But Hope? Hope Can Save A Life.
The second annual Fallout for Hope community super stream kicked off on December 4th and will be running until December 19th!
Fallout For Hope, in partnership with St Jude Play Live, is a global initiative where Fallout creators and players from around the world come together to raise money for St Jude’s Children’s hospital. Founded and organized in 2020 by Kenneth Vigue, host of CHAD: A Fallout 76 story podcast; Fallout For Hope is a perfect representation of the power of gaming communities and the compassion of the members that reside in them.
Starting out as simply members of a tight-knit Fallout community, the team acted quickly to mobilize and help others within their community through various personal hardships and struggles. This sparked an interesting question: if their small community could be so quick to help one person, how much good could a global community of Fallout players do? As it turns out they can do a whole lot of good, as last year’s first Fallout for Hope global community super stream was able to raise over 140 thousand dollars for St Jude’s Children’s hospital!
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, founded in 1962, is a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia and other cancers. The hospital costs about US$2.8 million a day to run, but patients are not charged for their care. Which is why initiatives like this are so important.
A lot of us at Seasoned Gaming are well… seasoned, which often involves being around kids in one way or another. We are teachers, we are parents, we are babysitters, uncles, aunts or we chase kids off our freshly cut lawns; kids are a part of our day to day experience. It’s through these experiences that we have all witnessed the over abundance of hope in the eyes of a child. So when catastrophe strikes and that hope starts to fade, its places like St Jude’s and the heroes that walk through those doors every day that we are so thankful for.
Fallout for Hope has also done great work in raising money for other awesome causes such as the American Heart Association and for victims of the Texas winter storms earlier in the year! So if you are a streamer, why not take a stroll into the wasteland today. If you are a player, stop by a Fallout stream and say hello! If you are feeling generous and want to contribute you can checkout the campaign right HERE. The goal this year is a whopping 500k which is enough to provide 20 life-saving surgeries to children at St Jude’s!
UPDATE: Day 2 has kicked off and they are at over 15 thousand raised! A feat that took over three days last year. Way to go!
