God of War “Ragnarok” Delayed to 2022, Confirmed for PS4 and PS5

While the debut teaser suggested a 2021 release for the next God of War, many us suspected it would be pushed to 2022.

Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that the follow-up to one of the most beloved games of last generation has been pushed to 2022.

Perhaps more interesting, is that Sony quietly confirmed that along with Horizon Forbidden West, God of War and the next Gran Turismo, will both appear on the PS4 as well as the PS5. Via an interview with Herman Hulst, PlayStation’s Head of Studios, he shared the following quote:


Our Take

While we aren’t surprised by the 2022 delay, we are a little surprised to see PlayStation continuing to develop cross-generation into next year as this seemingly goes against Jim Ryan’s prior comments about generations.
