The Xbox brand has been seeing strong growth continually for some time now, and with Microsoft’s earnings report released this afternoon, it’s clear that the Xbox brand is stronger than ever.
First up is the obvious growth in Xbox hardware. While both new consoles debuted halfway through the quarter, Microsoft says hardware revenue has grown 86 percent thanks to the Xbox Series X and S.
More impressive however, is the growth in revenue for “content and services” which includes Xbox Live and Xbox Game Pass. Xbox content and services revenue increased by 40 percent year over year. That pushed Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue up 51 percent.
Our Take
This is very positive news albeit, not necessarily surprising. The gaming industry has seen an impressive boom since the pandemic, and new consoles combined with the best service in gaming in Xbox Game Pass, has resulted in another fantastic quarter for the brand.
