Cyberpunk 2077 : Don’t Expect the Xbox Series X and PS5 Optimizations Soon

Since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 last week, there has been a whirlwind of discussion surrounding the optimization (or lack thereof), bugs, issues, and more. Yesterday, CD Projekt Red set forth the immediate roadmap which includes a second hotfix next week, followed by title updates in January and February. These will be for all platforms, but have a strong focus on the base Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Given the wealth of bugs and issues across platforms, what this means for the immediate future is that the “next-gen” optimizations players are anticipating for the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 are likely further out than many had initially hoped. While there’s no set timeline and simply “2021”, given the record with updates for games, including CDPR’s own Witcher 3, the optimizations will come after the core title updates.

Our Take

Despite the issues that have been discussed extensively, we’ve been adoring Cyberpunk 2077 here across the SG Staff. Stay tuned later this week for the beginning of your Review In-Progress!
