New, Independent Game Studio Founded by Silent Hill, Gravity Rush Veterans

One of the recurring themes we’ve seen in higher profile game developers over the past few years is wanting their creative freedom. You can add a few more names to the list.

Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama (also of Gravity Rush and Siren) is teaming up with industry veterans Kazunobu Sato (The Last Guardian) and Junya Okura to found Bokeh Game Studio Inc. The news was announced alongside a short video of the three discussing the gaming industry. The central theme is creative freedom with Okura noting:

“It is hard, there are responsibilities, but we have our freedom,” said game director Junya Okura, whose previous credits include Gravity Rush and the Siren horror series. “This is the most important. I want to enjoy creating from now on.”

Our Take

Any time creative industry veterans form an independent studio, it’s exciting. The possibilities are endless so we can’t wait to see what comes out of Bokeh in the future.
