As major companies continue building their platforms in the gaming space, Microsoft continues to make moves. This morning, they announced the acquisition of esports platform Smash.gg.

Our Take
As we’ve discussed extensively, Microsoft is very serious about the future of gaming and their place in it. This is yet another move to ensure that they are covering their bases and with esports growing extensively, particularly in Asian regions like South Korea, it will be increasingly important.
