The latest controversy with regard to the next-gen consoles is how Dirt 5 runs on the Xbox Series X when played at 120fps. While we don’t normally comment on such situations, there’s been an update from the developers directly in this case.
After an examination by our friends at Digital Foundry, an issue was identified with the version of code running on the Xbox Series X. David Springate, Technical Director for Codemasters, had the following to say:
"High Frame Rate Mode" (this is the 120hz mode) – this doesn't happen in the 60hz modes as John said in the video.
Also, this issue won't appear in photo mode.
Thanks for the hard work John! Happy to report, this issue will be fixed in a coming patch.— David Springate (@davidspringate) November 22, 2020
He continued further with an apology to players on the Series X.
I can only apologise to Xbox Series X 120hz owners, we'll get this resolved for you as quickly as we can. 🙇♂️
