Like many developers, Gearbox is preparing their biggest title for the launch of next-gen consoles. This morning, they confirmed that Borderlands 3 will be receiving the next-gen upgrade for free and at launch for both of the Xbox Series consoles and the PS5.
The update includes:
- Series X and PS5 will run at 4K/60fps. We’re assuming the Series S will run at 60fps as well but no official word on resolution.
- 3 and 4 player split-screen co-op will be available as well

Our Take
We’re very excited about this. Borderlands 3 is a title that thrives on fluidity with massive amounts of action occurring on the screen. Being able to finally play it at 60fps on consoles is going to be a night and day difference!
