New Need for Speed Title in Development, Heat Being Added to EA Access

Need for Speed has been a staple in the racing genre for generations now and while Heat seemed to improve over some of the more recent lackluster efforts, EA still hasn’t hit that high mark that was set many years ago. With that in mind, it seems they are re-focusing efforts to improve Need for Speed’s reputation.

Beginning tomorrow June 9th, Need for Speed Heat will feature crossplay across all platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC). The title update also fixes a wealth of bugs and makes some other improvements. It is about 7gb on the Xbox One and PS4 and about 1gb on the PC.

Then next week on June 16th, Need for Speed Heat will be added to the Vault in EA Access so subscribers will be able to download the full game.

Heat

As for the future of Need for Speed, EA and developer Criterion are hard at work on developing the next iteration in the series.

Our Take

For those of us that grew up with Need for Speed, we continue to hope that EA will take a larger, fully featured approach with the title. It just hasn’t kept up with the innovations made in titles like Forza Horizon (not that many have). With Criterion at the helm, it’s at least very promising!
