UPDATE: Since our original posting, we now have confirmation from multiple trustworthy sources that Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario 3D World are all planned in addition to “other 3D Mario titles“.
Original Article: Later this year will mark Super Mario Brothers 35th anniversary and if multiple sources are to be believed, Nintendo has big plans to celebrate.
According to reports, “most of Mario’s back catalogue will be released for the Switch” including “several remasters of classic titles“. This is apparently in addition to a new Paper Mario that will release this holiday.
As we reported previously, it’s expected that a new Paper Mario entry will be Nintendo’s flagship holiday title for 2020 with Breath of the Wild 2 reportedly being delayed into 2021.
Our Take
This would certainly be a good way to celebrate Super Mario turning 35 and would be yet another major boost for the Switch. Mario is timeless and if Nintendo were to remaster/update some of the classics such as Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, we’re sure millions of fans would rejoice. We’ll certainly keep you posted as we learn more.
