It looks as though Amy Hennig is ready to return to the gaming industry. According to a report from Venturebeat, Hennig is partnering with Hollywood production company Skydance (Terminator Dark Fate, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation) to open a new video game development studio. Former Electronic Arts executive Julian Beak is said to be co-founding the studio with Hennig.
According to Hennig, it took a little time but she feels as though the partnership with Skydance is a good fit.
“After Visceral closed, we both looked at the industry. We said we were going to take a little time,” Hennig said.
“Looking at the landscape, it felt like we were in an inflection point. And not just the game industry, but the center of the entertainment industry as a whole.
“And so we just were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do a survey of the industry and talk to people and engage with people in the industry, as well as in the traditional entertainment industry. Just to see where people thought the wind was blowing. Who were we going to partner with?”
Their target will be all traditional platforms and streaming devices with “story-focused experiences”.
Hennig is a very well known and respected figure in the gaming industry. Many have been watching to see where she would end up so it’s definitely going to be interesting to see what this new studio develops and what the partnership with a Hollywood production studio brings to the table.
