On EA’s investor call today, a few notable details were revealed about their key franchises. Primarily, that Apex Legends would be their service shooter focus through 2020 but more importantly, that the next Battlefield title wouldn’t be arriving until fiscal year 2022. That means we can expect release sometime between April 2021 and March 2022.
As Battlefield is a major title in their portfolio and this will likely be a refresh for the series of some sort, we have to assume it will be a fall release.
Our Take
It’s funny that this news comes directly after we discussed it on this week’s Bitcast in saying that Battlefield needed to take a few years and “reboot” itself. It seems that’s what EA is doing and we honestly love this news – particularly given the new console generation will be in full swing by then!
