Ubisoft Delays Multiple Major Titles Including Watch Dogs Legion

It seems it’s a day for delays! During an investor’s call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that the performance of Ghost Recon Breakpoint had been significantly below expectations (though no further context was shared). Because of this, other upcoming titles would be given additional development time to ensure their quality.

The titles being delayed are Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters. No specific dates were shared beyond “later in the fiscal year” which likely means 3rd or 4th quarter in 2020.

Our Take

While somewhat disappointing, we are pleased to hear that Ubisoft values the quality of their games over release date expectations and potentially, investors given the fiscal year focus. Given our experience with Breakpoint, we wholeheartedly support the decision.
