Rumors of the Kombat Pack early-on suggested we would see Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise. The chainsaw sound at the end of the original teaser futher suggested it. However, with today’s Kombat Pack reveal, we are instead getting The Joker leaving some fans confused.
Sure enough, fans over at Test your Might found an in-game reference on the Kombat Pack today that obviously wasn’t updated. It shows Ash Williams as coming in the future.
Our Take
We’re not sure what happened here but you can bet it was some sort of licensing agreement issue and so NetherRealm likely had to resort to a license they already had which resulted in Joker (already part of the Injustice series). Hopefully we’ll soon hear how this fell through. We’re certainly disappointed by the news!
Does anyone seriously think this is gonna be THE only kombat pack!?!? He simply got bumped to the next one as they already had enough AAA content for this one and don’t want the second one feeling like a throwaway kombat pack. What yall should really be talking about is how Boon screwed us over again with Cyrax and Sektor and yet no one is calling him on it after he promised after MKX he wouldn’t do that again!!
Good!!! Evil Dead needs to stay the hell away from SJW Kombat XI. No need associating something legendary with something SJW.
