In our unexpected news of the day, Nintendo offered a development update on Metroid Prime 4. Fans have been wondering since its debut when we would hear more about it and it seems today was that day. Sadly, it’s not good news.
In short, the games development was not progressing as planned and the original work therefore, is being scrapped. The project is being handed to Retro Studios who have completed excellent work on the Metroid Prime series previously. Below, you can find the update directly from Shinya Takahashi at Nintendo.
Our Take
This is certainly disappointing news. But given that we never had a rough idea of when the game was releasing, along with the title being handed to Retro, it’s likely a very good decision.
