Review : Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

ACOdysseyReview2

Going into Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, I had tempered my expectations based on what I saw prior to release. Much to my surprise, it surpassed nearly every one of them. The combat is smooth, intuitive and brutal. The story was serviceable, what I’ve come to expect from Assassin’s Creed games, but it was nicely paced.

Ancient Greece has never looked more stunning. From the incredible vistas perched atop a statue of a Greek God, to sailing the seas with your hardened crew, your eyes are in for a treat. Unfortunately, the experience is marred at times by an excruciating grind. There’s a pay to progress option, but it’s not a substantial enough gain to warrant the purchase in my opinion. The newly introduced RPG elements, while welcomed, aren’t as groundbreaking as I was led to believe.

Nevertheless, my time spent with Odyssey was enjoyable, challenging and, most importantly, fun. Fans of the series won’t be disappointed.
