And there it is. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, and one can only imagine what Grand Theft Auto 6 will achieve when it launches, but for now we have a new record holder.
Rockstar Games announced that over the course of the opening weekend (Friday through Sunday), Red Dead Redemption 2 has grossed $725 million. It also now holds the distinction of being 2nd all-time in retail launch as well with only Grand Theft Auto 5 topping it with over $1 billion in retail sales during its launch (which as it launched on a Tuesday, is not a direct 1:1 comparison).
