Rumors have been swirling about it for months now and they have turned out to be true. Sony is indeed making a PlayStation Classic in the same vein as the NES and SNES Minis.
The PlayStation Classic will launch on December 3rd for $99.99 and come pre-loaded with 20 classic titles including Final Fantasy 7, Tekken 3, Ridge Racer, Jumping Flash, Wild Arms, and more (the full list is yet to be unveiled). It will also come with 2 controllers.
Our Take
While this is very cool news indeed, and we’re happy Sony is doing it, $100 for only 20 titles seems like a miss on their part. The PS1 is home to many, many classic titles including rare RPGs and given the list they’ve shared so far, it’s likely many of those will be left out. Additionally, while the nostalgia factor is high for titles like Tekken 3 and Ridge Racer, playing them nowadays isn’t the best experience. Still, we’re excited to get our hands on it.
