It seems like it has been generations, as well it has, but Shenmue 3 is actually coming next year. This morning at Gamescom we learned that the long anticipated title will release on August 27, 2019. Check out the latest trailer below!
Our Take
Upon release, the original Shenmue opened a very big discussion about the future direction of games. While slow and plodding at times, it also introduced concepts that were far ahead of its time. After the sequel released, fans anxiously expected the next entry in the series but for a number of reasons, it never surfaced. Thanks to Kickstarter and now the support of publishing partner Deep Silver, Shenmue 3 is finally coming. It’s been a long, strange trip but fans are excited. We just hope it lives up to such long-seeded expectations!
