In the on-going soap opera that is EA’s handling of Star Wars Battlefront 2 and its microtransaction system, it appears yet another change has been made. Just this evening, the premium currency in the game “crystals” has been removed entirely. Whether or not they will still remain on platforms (Xbox Live and PSN) we’re unsure, but they’ve been removed from the title itself.

Our Take
Well it seems the outrage, that reached national news levels earlier today, has caused a large reaction from Electronic Arts. While we’re happy they’ve responded and are making the game focus more on gameplay, we still have to wonder how we got to this place to begin with. We also hope this doesn’t impact the amount of additional content that is developed for the game as that was undoubtedly being funded through the planned microtransactions. Time will tell!
