Bruce Straley, 18 year veteran and one of the most influential leaders at Naughty Dog, is departing the developer. In a statement posted today, Bruce commented:

It’s impossible to summarize 18 of the most influential years of my career in a blog post, but here we are — today, with the heaviest of hearts, I am announcing my departure from Naughty Dog.

This has been the hardest decision of my career. Naughty Dog is home. The Kennel is family. I’ve learned and grown so much from working with this incredible team. But after heading up three extremely demanding projects, and taking some extended time away from the office, I found my energy focusing in other directions, and I slowly realized this was the signal that it’s time to move on.

Our Take

The Last of Us is one of the greatest games ever made and an incredibly influential title, both for the industry and for the crew here at SG. Uncharted is another beloved franchise with many agreeing that Uncharted 2 is the best in the series. It goes without saying that Bruce Straley will be missed at Naughty Dog and we here at SG wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors. But most importantly, from all us here, thank you Bruce.
