Electronic Arts gave us our first look at Fifa 18 today. The next iteration of the hugely popular series will arrive on September 29th with Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover. EA has confirmed you can play 3 days early by pre-ordering the Ronaldo edition and Xbox has confirmed you will get 5 days early access with EA Access on the Xbox One as well.
Our Take
Fifa 18 is one of the best selling titles in the world annually so we can expect heavy marketing from EA during EA Play next week in E3, along with further marketing by Sony who now holds the Fifa franchise deal. As with the other modern EA Sports titles, Ultimate Team is a huge fan favorite so it’s nice to hear that both the PlayStation and Xbox will be receiving the Legends players this year as well. Lastly, for Switch owners the news is a mixed bag. From what we’ve heard, the Switch will get Fifa 18, but it will be built on the older Ignite engine versus Frostbite and we’ve seen no mention of FUT for the Switch either. We’ll update as we learn more.
