In some potentially excellent news, Netflix announced today that they are working on a Witcher series. It will produced in English and Andrzej Sapkowski, the writer of the Witcher novels, is on board as a creative consultant. Sapkowski had the following to say about the series:
“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” he wrote. “I’m excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life.”
Filmmaker Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko, part of the team at Platigue who created the CGI for the Witcher games, are also on board.
To say I’m excited for this would be an understatement. I truly hope they do the world justice and the series of the generally high standard of recent Netflix releases.
