A new service similar to Xbox’s Game Pass or for those unfamiliar, a Netflix style subscription gaming service, named Jump is arriving on the scene this month. It will aim to provide over 60 indie titles at launch with 10 more arriving monthly. It will launch on PC and VR platforms later this Summer (a beta period is currently underway) and will offer new players a 14 day free trial.
With thousands of indie titles released annually on platforms like Steam, many of them go unnoticed and Jump is presumably hoping to capitalize in that area. Developers will earn a percentage of the profits from Jump based on the amount of time their titles are played and Jump is implementing systems like title curation and limited monthly releases to further spotlight titles for players.

Our Take
We’re huge supporters of this. As we commented on Xbox’s Game Pass, this type of service has a huge future in gaming and we love the spotlight on smaller developers and indie titles. It will be interesting to see how this marketplace develops over the next few years as eventually we have to imagine there will be but a few major players in the space.
