Microsoft has published it’s fiscal year results for the first quarter of 2019 and with that, we gain some insight into the strength and growth of Xbox as a brand. The results are certainly impressive.

- Gaming revenue is up 44% year over year to 2.74 billion.
- Xbox Live monthly users are up 7.5% YOY to 57 million (though flat since last quarter).
- Xbox hardware revenue increased by 94% due to the launch of the Xbox One X.
Our Take
As we’ve repeatedly said, there’s a lot of misinformation on sites and social media surrounding Microsoft and Xbox as a brand. The fact is that Xbox is healthy and growing which is good for all of us. Hopefully it will be a record holiday for all three major console players!
