The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has concluded its 26th annual D.I.C.E. awards ceremony celebrating the best gaming had to offer in 2022. For the uninitiated, the DICE Awards differs from Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards as the voting panel is not made up of members of the media nor influencers. Instead, the nominees and winners in each category are selected by a peer panel, assembled by AIAS, and made up of over 100 video game professionals across several facets of the industry including developers, programmers, artists, and publishers.
In addition to handing out awards in 23 different categories, the event also had a video game hall of fame induction ceremony for the legendary Tim Schafer. Schafer’s career has spanned over 30 years. Over that time he defined the adventure genre at LucasArts, launched his own studio Double Fine, created the first million-dollar video game Kickstarter, and joined Xbox Game Studios. In terms of the game awards handed out, God of War: Ragnarok cleaned house taking home seven different awards with Elden Ring not far behind with five awards including the coveted Game of the Year award. For the full list of nominees and winners in each category see below:
